Abstract

Key Words: Writing Ability, Circuit Learning Method. Writing is an important English skill that has to be learned beside the other language skill. However, the students’ writing ability in the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Pacitan are still low, because the students have difficulty in expressing their ideas and do not interested in writing activity and the grammatical errors. One way in helping students writing task well by using Circuit Learning Method. Circuit Learning Method is learning strategies that maximize the empowerment of thought and feelings with addition and repetition stock when they study writing. In accordance to the fact above, the researcher formulated the statement of the problems, how does the implementation of circuit learning methods improve the students’ writing ability in seventh grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Pacitan 2014/2015 academic year?. So, the purpose of the study is to find out the implementation of circuit learning method can improve the students’ writing ability at eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Pacitan 2014/2015 academic year. In this research used Classroom Action Research to apply Circuit Learning method. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Pacitan 2014/2015 academic year, which consisted of 20 students. The research was conducted on January 21th 2015 until February 3th 2015 in two cycles. Each cycle consist of 2 meeting. The researcher used three research instruments; they were observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. The result of this research, the implementation of circuit learning method can improve students’ writing ability. It showed that the results of observation checklist of cycle I was 67.85%, and in the cycle II was 82.14%, it proved that they could be active in cooperating group and done the task. The questionnaire result in cycle I the score was 64.86% in cycle II up to 79.7% proved that students enjoyed and interested during writing teaching and learning process. The test result showed in cycle I was 75% in cycle II was 100%. It means, the implementation of writing ability by using circuit learning method was satisfying. Finally, by using circuit learning method in teaching writing and improves students’ writing ability was effectively well. The researcher suggested that the teacher should use media in teaching and learning process to make students interested and fun to learn English especially writing class
