Abstract

Key Terms: Writing Skill, TGT Method Writing is considered as one difficult skill of language because it involves several components such as content, organization, and language use. Most of students of SMK 1 Pemuda Ponorogo especially class XI, has difficulty in mastering writing skill. It means that the teacher must have good method and motivation to enhance the students skill in writing. In this case, the researcher will take procedure text because many lessons use steps about to do something, so she wanted the students to learn writing English. The purpose of this research is to describe how the action of teaching by using TGT Method to develop students’ writing skill in procedure text. TGT Method is a method making a group, making games by using cards that consist of the questions and the answers about procedure text, the students develop them becoming the story about steps of making something in procedure text. Then, the students make table tournament to get score in their group. The subject of this research was students in class XI MM 1 of SMK 1 Pemuda Ponorogo in academic year 2013/2014. The number of the whole students was 20. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research which used Kemmis and Mc Taggart model that the design through cycle from planning, acting, observing , and reflecting. The research was conducted in two cycles. In cycle 1, the observation checklist showed that the students were not active enough and how the researcher applied the method in teaching learning English. The result of the test showed that some students got score under the standard which was determined. There were 10 students can reach standard minimum score and 9 students can not reach it. In cycle 2, the observation checklist showed that the students were very active and the researcher more ready to teach in teaching and learning process. The result of the last questionnaire showed that the students were interested in writing procedure text by using TGT Method. The result of the test showed that all of the students can reach standard minimum score or KKM. Finally, the researcher suggest to the teachers and the next researchers that the new method to teach writing English that make the lesson more enjoyable and fun. Besides, the teacher must raise the students’ motivation to study English well. And for the next researcher, it is hoped to be more creative and can study the research deeply and perfectly, so that the teaching learning process will be more efficient and effective.
