Abstract

Depression is increasingly common in patients who experience chronic chronic conditions such as stroke, diabetes, cancer and chronic pain disorders. Many people still see diabetes only in clinical terms, but diabetes and depression can trigger each other so that patients with diabetes mellitus are at high risk of depression. This study aims to determine the level of depression in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.The design of this study was descriptive with a population of all type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic Dr. Harjono Ponorogo numbered 186. The sampling technique used was Quota Sampling. The sample of this study were all type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Dr. Harjono Ponorogo with a total of 56 respondents. Data analysis used the HDRS questionnaire to determine the level of depression in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. From the results of the study of 56 respondents Depression Level in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients as many as 25 respondents (44.68%) experienced moderate depression, 15 respondents (26.78%) experienced mild depression and as many as 7 respondents (12.5%) experienced depression heavy, while 9 respondents (16.07%) did not experience depression. The results of the study were concluded that almost half were in medium and small parts. More weight than done in conducting research, for example, the selection of respondents must be in accordance with the type of respondents studied. For the next researcher, it is suggested to conduct research on more unique factors that can affect the level of depression.
