Abstract

ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HISTORY OF HYPERTENSION AND SEVERITY OF COVID-19 PATIENTS At RSU ‘AISYIYAH PONOROGO By: Vanesya Isnaya Muslimah Coronavirus or Covid-19 is a virus that can cause acute respiratory infections in humans with mild to severe indications. One group that is vulnerable to Covid-19 infection is people who have a history of the disease (comorbid). One of the comorbidities associated with the worsening of Covid-19 infection is hypertension. Increased expression of ACE2 in Covid-19 patients with a history of hypertension makes it easier for SARS-CoV-2 to relate to target cells so that sufferers are prone to worsening and severity when infected with SARS-CoV-2. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the history of hypertension and the severity of Covid-19 patients at RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo. This research is a quantitative study with a retrospective cohort study design. The population in this study were all medical record data for Covid-19 patients who were MRS at 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo Public Hospital from March to December 2021 totaling 529. The sample in this study was 442, using the consecutive sampling technique. The results of the statistical test using Chi-square obtained a p-value of 0.897, which means that the value is more than α (0.05). It can be concluded that there is no relationship between the history of hypertension and the severity of Covid-19 patients at 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo Public Hospital. It is hoped that in the future there will be other studies that examine what factors are related to the degree of severity of Covid-19 patients.
