Abstract
Pests are insects that are dangerous for rice farmers because they can reduce productivity by 10% - 50% within 10 days. Insect control using chemical insecticides has been widely practiced by farmers in Indonesia. This method has a detrimental impact on other ecosystem components. Therefore, the development of effective and efficient pest control technology is very important. This study aims to design and build insect control devices using IoT-based lights. This tool uses the principle of attracting pests with light as a method of catching and controlling pest populations. This pest lure system utilizes phototaxis properties in pests, where insects are attracted to light and will be trapped when approaching a light source. This tool has the advantage of being able to be monitored via Android and has a tracking area in the form of GPS to determine where this device is placed and can map the location, and is better for the environment because it does not damage rice plants and guarantees food safety from rice production. The results of this study are able to contribute to the control of insects in rice plants in a more efficient and environmentally friendly manner. In addition, the monitoring feature via PC or Android will make it easier for farmers to monitor and control pest control devices practically remotely.
