Rima Wahyu Cahyanti. (2023). The teacher’s efforts to increase students’ understanding of the VIIth grade Aqidah Akhlak subject through the innovative lecture method at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis. Thesis for S1 Program in the Department of Islamic Religious Education. Advisor (I) Dr. Nuraini, M.Pd.I and Advisor (II) Azid Syukroni, M.Pd.I. Keywords: Understanding of students, Moral Beliefs, Innovative lecture method Understanding students in learning is sometimes a big problem in education. This can result from the way the teacher gives explanations so that it is difficult to understand the material presented. Understanding the material can be done in various ways such as using learning methods in which student become interested in understanding the material taught by the teacher. This study aims to determine the teacher’s efforts to improve student’s understanding of theseventh grade Aqidah Akhlak subject through the lecture method and the results of its use at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used by researchers are observation, interviews and documentation. The sources of his research were the Principal, Deputy Head of Curriculum, Teachers of Akhlak Aqidah, and Class VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis. The results of the study showed that (1)The teacher’s efforts to improve students’ understanding of the subject of moral principles using the lecture method at Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis many methods used by the teacher. Not only using the lecture method, but also collaborating with other methods such as using games or showing videos. Efforts do not only come from the teacher, but also students try their own way to understand the material that has been given by the teacher. One of the efforts of to apply material that is appropriate to everyday life, for example alms. (2)The results of using the lecture method in increasing students’ understanding in the subject of moral ethics are very satisfying. As a result, from the material that has been delivered by the teacher, it can produce, for example, in everyday life, getting good grades, especially in the subject of moral ethics. This value can be seen from report cards, daily tests and private exams. Fromthese results are supporting factors in increasing students’ understanding such as usng other creed books, using video assistance according to the material, while the inhibiting factors come form the students themselves who are usually sleepy or bored listening to the material.
