Abstract
Sekar Ayu Praptaningtyas, 2023. Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali's Thoughts on Sex Education and Their Relevance to Islamic Parenting. Thesis for S1 Program in the Department of Islamic Religious Education. Advisor (I) Dr. Rido Kurnianto, M.Ag and Advisor (II) Dr. Aldo Redho Syam, M.Pd.I. Keywords: Sex education, Abdullah Nasih Ulwan, Imam Al-Ghazali Statements of parents who still consider sex education as taboo and do not need to be taught to children result in children seeking sex education from various sources such as the internet, social media, or their peers. The more sophisticated information and communication technology also makes it easier for children to find out about sex education from the internet. This makes children vulnerable to misinformation, children will believe the myths that are circulating if they do not get proper sexology education from their parents. These myths will have a negative impact that can lead children to negative actions such as free sex, pornography, or cases of sexual violence and harassment. Parents play a very important role and are required to have an in-depth understanding of sex education so that they can teach their children as a form of coaching or preventive efforts to protect children from risky sexual behavior. This study aims to: (1) Describe the thoughts of Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali regarding the concept of sex education. (2) Knowing the similarities and differences in the comparative conception of sex education between the thoughts of Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali. (3) Knowing the relevance of Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali's sex education thoughts on Islamic parenting. This research uses the library research method with a philosophical approach that seeks to understand the nature of things, reconcile causes and effects, and solve problems by collecting some existing data in a systematic and consistent manner to then be identified, analyzed, narrated, and compared so that conclusions can be obtained related to thoughts on sex education Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali. The results of this study include: (1) The concept of sex education according to Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali is to provide teaching, education, and understanding to children about matters related to sex and marriage with the aim of forming humans who are accustomed to morals Islamic so that they can control their lust and avoid adultery behavior. (2) The similarities and differences in the thoughts of the two figures lie in the nature, objectives, materials offered, and the methods used. (3) According to Abdullah Nasih Ulwan and Imam Al-Ghazali, sex education is relevant to Islamic parenting, namely supporting the implementation of Islamic parenting, supporting Islamic parenting methods, and supporting Islamic parenting goals.
