ABSTRACT This study presents a comparative study in the allocation of Village Funds as a strategy to alleviate poverty in three different villages, namely Totokan Village, Tugu Village, and Serangan Village located in Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency. The purpose of this study is to determine the allocation of Village Funds in poverty alleviation and to determine the constraints of allocating Village Funds in poverty alleviation in Totokan Village, Tugu Village, and Serangan Village, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The selection of informants in this study used purposive sampling techniques, with informants consisting of the Totokan Village Government, Tugu Village Government, Serangan Village Government, and people from the three villages. The results of the study show that funds directed to poverty alleviation come from Village Funds. The amount of Village Fund received by each village varies. In Totokan Village, Tugu Village, and Serangan Village, many poverty alleviation programs have been held both in the form of social assistance and programs such as community empowerment in the form of training. Poverty alleviation programs in these three villages are in accordance with the SDGs objectives and the priority of using Village Funds. The target of poverty alleviation programs has targeted and sided with the underprivileged. In efforts to alleviate poverty in these three villages, obstacles were found that became obstacles, namely the lack of public awareness and knowledge of the importance of the programs held. The allocation of Village Funds for poverty alleviation programs in Totokan Village, Tugu Village, and Serangan Village has had a positive impact on the poverty rate in these villages, but the results have not been fully optimal and there are several obstacles. Thus, efforts need to be made so that the poverty alleviation program can run well and sustainably to improve the welfare and quality of life of the community, so as to achieve success in alleviating poverty in rural areas.
