Abstract
ABSTRACT Utami, Nabila Putri: Analysis of Numeracy Literacy Skills of Students in Terms of Polya's Problem-Solving Stages. THESIS. Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, 2023. One of the way to measured students' numeracy literacy skills was by giving them numeracy literacy questions. The questions that we used were related to problems that exist around students. One of the way to solve the problems were related to everyday life problems is to used the polya stages. Therefore, this research aims to analyze students' numeracy literacy abilities in terms of the polya stages. This researched was a descriptive qualitative researched that was conducted in mts. Al-islam joresan in class VIII A. This research used 6 subjects, including 3 subjects in category 3 stages of polya and 3 subjects in category 4 stages of polya. The techniques that we used in this research was tests and interviews. The instruments that we used in this studied were test questions and interview guidelines. The data collection and analysis procedure that we used were the provision of numeracy literacy test questions, then the test results of the students was grouped according to the categories of the polya stages carried out, then subject interviews was conducted. The results of this study showed that all the research subjects was able to analyze information. All subjects was able to state the purpose of the question, the information contained in the question, along with their reasons. All subjects were able to used symbols in mathematical operations as showed by the used of variables as examples in both the information obtained and the formulas used. Subjects in category 3 of the polya stages were able to finished only up to carrying out the planned and had not been able to draw conclusions from the results obtained. This was because there was subjects whose problem-solved process was not yet completed. Additionally, subjects in the category of completed 3 stages of Polya had difficulty connected the obtained results with the question's requirements leading to a conclusion. Whereas subjects in category 4 stages of polya was able to finished up the conclusion stage even though there was still some errors in it. This means that only subjects in category 4 stages of polya were able to made decisions from the results of information analysis. Keywords: Numeracy Literacy Skills, Polya's Stages
