Abstract
Pipit Dwi Kinanthi, 2023, Increasing Motivation to Learn Early Reading through Reading Corner for First Grade Students at Ngrukem, Mlarak, Ponorogo State Elementary School. Thesis. Strata One (S-1) Program Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Religion, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University. Advisor 1: Dr. H. Nurul Iman, Lc. M.HI; and Advisor 2: Dr. Wahyudi Setiawan, M.Pd.I. Keywords: Increased Learning Motivation, Beginning Reading, Literacy Corner One of the things that can support the learning power of students' beginning reading is by providing facilities and infrastructure. Efforts to improve the reading skills of students at primary school age must be made as much as possible. One of them is creating a reading corner program. Through school programs, it becomes an identity in the process of improving the quality of students lives. This research aims to describethe motivation to learn to read at the beginning of grade I students at Ngrukem, Mlarak, Ponorogo State Elementary School. Describe the increase in motivation to learn to read beginning with the reading corner for grade I students at Ngrukem, Mlarak, Ponorogo State Elementary School. Describing the supporting and inhibiting factors in increasing the motivation to learn to read among the first grade students at Ngrukem, Mlarak, Ponorogo State Elementary School. This research is qualitative, using the descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observation at Ngrukem, Mlarak, Ponorogo State Elementary School. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Checking data validity using triangulation. The findings of this research include: 1) The motivation of first grade students at Ngrukem, Mlarak, and Ponorogo State Elementary School in learning to read gradually increased with the motivation of the teacher, the patience of the teacher, the existence of a reading corner, and creative teachers so that students are enthusiastic and have hope to be able. 2) Increased motivation of grade I students in learning to read begins through reading corners, utilizing practical books and storybooks, paying attention to safety and comfort, having patient teachers, respecting students, and allowing students to self-actualize. 3) Supporting factors are the teacher's patience and supporting media. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are that teachers sometimes get permission not to enter the class and that there are weak students' abilities.
