Abstract

ABSTRACT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ADHERENCE TO THE FIVE PILLARS OF DIABETES MELLITUS MANAGEMENT AND RANDOMISE BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS AT INTERNAL MEDICINE POLYCLINIC RSAU dr. EFRAM HARSANA LANUD ISWAHYUDI By : Luqman Ma’ruf Romadhon Management of diabetes mellitus involves five main pillars, which are diet, physical activity, medication, glucose monitoring, and education, which serve as an important basis in terms of manage this condition. This study aims to analyze the relationship between adherence to the five pillars of diabetes mellitus management and blood glucose levels at the internal medicine polyclinic of RSAU dr. Efram Harsana Lanud Iswahyudi The research design used in this study was analytical with a cross-sectional method. The population in this study were all internal medicine polyclinic patients at RSAU dr. Efram Harsana Lanud Iswahjudi, totalling 700 participants. The sample as many as 88 respondents with sampling technique Purposive Sampling. Data were collected using the DMSQ questionnaire and a digital blood glucose meter (Easy Touch GCU) with the Chi Square test. The results of the study showed 78.3% of respondents were compliant and had normal blood glucose levels and 54.3% were non-compliant and had abnormal blood glucose levels. The results of statistical tests with Chi Square obtained sig. p = 0.003, which means the value of p < α (0.05), this study shows that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between compliance with the five pillars of Diabetes Mellitus management with Randomise blood glucose during Diabetes Mellitus patients in the internal medicine polyclinic of RSAU dr. Efram Harsana Lanud Iswahyudi. The results of the analysis showed a significant correlation between the level of patient adherence to the Five Pillars of Diabetes Mellitus and blood glucose control. Several factors including diet, medication, physical activity, glucose monitoring, and consistency in adhering to medical recommendations had a significant impact on patients' glycaemic management. Nurses should educate patients about the important of adherence to the Five Pillars of Diabetes Mellitus. Keywords. Five Pillars of Diabetes Mellitus Management Compliance, Randomised Blood Glucose
