Abstract
Energy has an important role in the world, one of which is fossil fuels. Demand for energy is increasing while the availability of energy sources is decreasing because fossil fuels cannot be renewed. Fuel is needed to replace it by converting biomass waste into briquettes, namely coconut shells, bagasse, and teak leaves. In this study, the characteristics of briquettes were analyzed against variations in pressing pressure. The pressing pressure used was 100 psi, 150 psi, 200 psi, 250 psi, and 300 psi. Mixed composition of coconut shell, bagasse, and teak leaves with the same ratio of 30%, while the starch adhesive was 10%. The sieving size of the material uses 60 mesh. Research results show that the best quality briquettes using 300 psi pressing pressure were 6.98% moisture content, 13.40% ash content, 5213.29 Cal/g calorific value, 412.1°C combustion temperature, and 83.57 minutes burning time.
