Abstract

Homing pigeon competitions are bird competitions that measure the flying speed of pigeons from the start to the owner's cage. Developments to make competition easier are needed by utilizing the latest technological innovations. This research was carried out to design a tool to measure the flying speed of pigeons in pigeon racing competitions, design a tool to detect the arrival of pigeons at the finish after flying to determine their speed, and display information on the results of flying speed of pigeons in competitions. The research methods used were field studies, literature studies, hardware and software planning, hardware and software design, device testing, evaluation. The results of this research show that the instrument for measuring the flying speed of pigeons in pigeon racing competitions was designed using the Node MCU ESP8266 controller by determining the starting point from flying to the finish, the results of which are calculated on the web server. The arrival detection tool to determine the speed of the pigeon at the finish uses a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Reader. Displays information in the form of score sequence number, match name, match date, bird name, release location, cage location, distance traveled, release time, arrival time, and flying speed of the pigeon, by opening the Pigeon Racing Information System web server
