Abstract
Abstract Many trucks and cars experience corrosion on the transport bed, especially vehicles that are often used to transport goats. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out research to find out what causes corrosion in vehicle components. Because when transporting animals there is bound to be a pool of animal urine which directly hits the vehicle floor which is made of iron plates, the researchers took goat urine mixed with distilled water as research material to see whether goat urine caused corrosion. This research method uses a weight reduction method on an iron plate that is soaked for 1 month. After conducting research, we obtained the highest corrosion rate results from a mixture of 100% goat urine and 0% distilled water which produced a corrosion rate of 0.3968 mm/year. Meanwhile, a mixture of 0% goat urine and 100% distilled water produced the lowest corrosion rate, producing 0.1564 mm/year. From the corrosion rate results above, goat urine influences the corrosion rate. Then the results of macro observations showed that an increasing percentage of urine resulted in a rougher surface structure of the plate.
