Abstract
Basically, motor vehicle consumers want an engine that has good performance and is also fuel efficient, this cannot be separated from the perfect combustion process in the engine. Improving engine performance can be done in many ways, one of which is by increasing the compression ratio. A high compression ratio will increase the density of the air-gasoline mixture and turbulence in the combustion chamber, thereby increasing compression pressure and combustion speed [1]. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of variations in compression ratio on performance, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions with the addition of eco racing on the GL Max motorbike. The results of this research show the effect of varying the best compression ratio, namely 10.2: 1. Performance has increased with the best torque being 9.64 Nm and the best power being 10.1 HP. Fuel consumption is further reduced to 1.6 kg/kWh, making it more fuel efficient. Exhaust gas emissions get the results of CO (5.23%), HC (3511 ppm), and O2 (6.58%) which are getting smaller, while CO2 (5.24%) is getting bigger so that exhaust gas emissions are more environmentally friendly and combustion more perfect. However, this result does not meet the specified threshold value. Where hydrocarbons can only be reduced to 3511 ppm, while the threshold value that has been set is 2400 ppm.
