Abstract

Earthquakes often occur in Indonesia, especially in the southern sea of Java Island. This requires students to understand the level of preparedness of universities for earthquake disasters. This study aims to determine the preparedness of students in dealing with earthquake disasters on the campus of the Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. This study uses the Pre-Experimental Design method with a One-group Pretest-Posttest design using Probability sampling with the Simple Random Sampling technique, the population of this study were FIK students class of 2022 with a total of 96 respondents, and a sample size of 49 students. This research was conducted at the Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, the research instrument was the SOP for earthquake disaster evacuation simulation and the preparedness questionnaire. The results showed that the level of preparedness of students in dealing with earthquake disasters before disaster preparedness training was in the ready category of 26 respondents (53.1%) and after disaster preparedness training increased with the results that most respondents were in the very prepared category of 33 respondents (67.3%). The Wilcoxon statistical test showed p-value = 0.000 <alpha (0.05). Further analysis shows that this evacuation simulation training has succeeded in increasing student preparedness, although not all of them reached the very prepared category, most students experienced an increase in preparedness from the previous category. The discussion of this research discusses evacuation simulations on student preparedness. Therefore, it is recommended that this simulation be carried out to continue to strengthen the capabilities and preparedness of all campus elements in dealing with earthquake disasters.
