Abstract
Key Word: Suggestopedia Strategy, Reading Skill One of the important in English is reading. Reading is a source of getting information. No one can get much information without reading. In reading, the students can get an information from book and they also get more knowledge them, when the read such as reading a book, newspaper, magazine, etc. To mater reading the students need to have reading desire and they must be tried to read something intensively and continually. Identification of problem in this research focuses on the implementation of Suggestopedia method to improve students reading skill at tenth grade of SMAN 1 Badegan Ponorogo in academic years 2015/2016. The subject of this Classroom Action Research was students of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Badegan class X.3 consisting of 32 students. The research was started on August, 2015. The research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted 2 meetings. The researcher used three research instruments. There are observation check list, questionnaire, and test. The research was done in two cycles. In cycle 1, the result of observation checklist showed that the students were not active enough. The result of questionnaire showed that they still got difficulty in learning English. The average score of test result was 64.53. In cycle 2, the result of observation checklist showed that the students were active in teaching and learning process. The result of questionnaire showed that the students were interest in reading by using suggestopedia strategy and it was proper to be implemented in teaching English, especially for reading. The average score of the test result increased become 83.59. Finally, the researcher gave suggestion to the English teachers they can use suggestopedia strategy as alternative strategy in teaching reading. The next researcher can develop this strategy by using various kind of the instrumental music or combining this strategy with other strategy to get better result in teaching learning process especially in teaching reading.
