Abstract
Plastic is widely used in food wrapping, beverages, and household furniture. The materials used in this research are HDPE plastic shreds, PET plastic seeds, and bamboo fiber. For the manufacturing process itself by mixing plastic with bamboo fiber which is then pressed on a hot press. Then, for the specimen testing method, namely using tensile testing and macro and microstructure testing to observe from the fracture in the sample that has been made whether there are still air cavities. The manufacture of this specimen uses a mixture of HDPE, PET and bamboo fiber plastics with a composition of 100% HDPE, 100% PET, HDPE 60%: PET 30%: bamboo fiber 10%, HDPE 60%: PET 20%: bamboo fiber 20%, HDPE 60%: PET 10%: bamboo fiber 30%. From the tensile testing results, the highest average value was obtained in the composition of 100% HDPE with a value of 533.37 N, with a tensile stress test value of 27.77 Mpa. Then in the composition of HDPE 60%: PET 10%: 30% bamboo fiber obtained an average tensile test value of 409.33 N, and a tensile stress value of 21.31 Mpa, with the addition of 30% bamboo fiber greatly affecting the tensile strength of the material. In the macro test results, there are still many air bubbles trapped in the middle of the tensile test sample and not visible from the surface of the sample, PET plastic is not too mixed in the sample, and bamboo fiber looks evenly mixed throughout the sample, and from the observation of the microstructure it can be seen that at 100% HDPE there are no visible cavities and at 100% PET there are many bubbles which result in very low tensile test results, then in the third mixture composition there are still air cavities but the addition of bamboo fiber can increase the tensile test results.
