Abstract

Abstract Plastic is a material or material that is On the other hand, the use of plastic is very high, causing many problems and issues.On the other hand, the very high use of plastic causes many problems and problemsTo overcome the plastic problem, a recycling process is carried out by making aTo overcome the plastic problem, a recycling process is carried out by making plastic wood composites using HDPE plastic and Mahogany wood powder with 3 percentage comparisons.HDPE and Mahogany wood powder with 3 HDPE mixture percentage comparisons:Mahogany wood powder (60:40, 50:50, 40:60) with 3 temperature variations (260°C, 270°C, 280°C). For products made in the form of knife handles. The method is carried out by inserting the mixture of materials into theinjection molding machine at temperaturesbetween 260 ° C, 270 ° C, and 280 ° C and then injected into a knife handle-shaped mold withdimensions of 120mm long, 40mm wide, and 7mm thick. Hardness test datashows significant variation between test specimens. Test specimens withHDPE:Mahogany wood powder ratio of 60:40 at 280°C temperature showed the highest hardness value of HRB 77.8 while with theHDPE:Mahogany wood powder 40:60 ratio at 260°C has the lowest hardness with HRB 9.3.For HDPE plastic blends, it is more dominant to have a high hardness value with a high melting temperature which can also affect the hardness of the specimen.affect the hardness of the specimen.
