Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasingly widespread development of infrastructure carried out by the government has encouraged several parties to innovate in creating various heavy equipment to facilitate development activities. One type of heavy equipment used is an excavator. The intensity of use of excavators, which is quite heavy, means that these machines often experience damage to either the engine or spare parts. One part of the excavator that is prone to damage is the teeth bucket. This research was conducted to analyze the occurrence of teeth bucket damage on excavators series Kobelco SK200. In this study, researchers only examined damage to teeth bucket on the excavator Kobelco SK200. This research is a quantitative descriptive research with the hardness testing method chosen being the Rockwell method. The research location used was at PT. PP. PRESISI TBK (warehouse) which is located at JL. Raya Jonggol – Cariu, Sukagalih, Jonggo District, Bogor Regency, West Java. From the results of research conducted by researchers, the hardness test results obtained on the Kobelco SK200 teeth bucket were 70HRC. From the test results it can be concluded that the damage to the teeth bucket was caused by hard material. This is proven by the hardness test results which show that the hardness figure is above an average of 50 HRC, namely 70.11 HRC, so that the teeth bucket become brittle and will break or be damaged when subjected to pressure.
