Abstract

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a plant that can be used as a spice and raw material for traditional medicine. Ginger plants also have a great opportunity to be cultivated because they have high economic value. One of the important things in cultivating ginger plants is knowing the good quality of the soil, choosing the type of soil, soil acidity level, humidity and air temperature in the cultivation environment. Good soil for growing ginger is with an optimum temperature ranging from 25 to 30 ℃, has fairly high air humidity, namely 80 percent, and the ideal soil acidity or pH level ranges from 6.5 to 7.0. This research aims to group soil types to obtain good soil types by paying attention to measurements of temperature, soil pH and soil moisture by applying the K-Means algorithm. The K-Means algorithm is a method that is included in the distance-based clustering algorithm which divides data into a number of clusters. The results of this research, the K-Means algorithm is able to cluster various types of soil into 2 clusters. In lowland areas, cluster 1 for specific soil is entisol, gravel, clay and humus, for cluster 2, namely parasol, compost and peat. In the highland areas, cluster 1 for specific soils is entisol, clay and humus, for cluster 2, namely sand, gravel, compost and peat. Keywords: Ginger plants, Soil Clusterization, K-Means Algorithm.
