Abstract

Key Terms: Writing skill, Learning Cell Method English is an International language which is very important to be mastered. Writing is a language skill which is expressed in written form. There were some difficulties that were faced by the students of class XI Ak 2. SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo. Students can not write well because they have limited knowledge in English grammar and vocabulary. To improve writing skill the students should have enthusiasm in learning English and know the correct writing process as well. In teaching writing, we use the method that could be applied in the class. The method was Learning Cell Method. The teaching writing through the use a Learning Cell Method motivated students to write confidenly. This research is about how can learning cell method increase students’ writing skill at the eleventh grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015- 2016. The subject of this classroom action research was the eleventh grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015-2016, especially class XI AK 2 which consisted of 30 students. The research was started on 31 August, 2015 until 8 September 2015. This research was conducted in two cycles. There were three research instruments that were used in this research. They were observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of learning cell method improve students writing skill at the leventh grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo,. There was an improvement between the first cycle and the second cycle. It could be seen from the improvement of average of students’ score from 43.33% in cycle 1 up to 100 % in cycle II. The questionnaire result showed that students had more knowledge and had enthusiasm to learn so they became more enjoy and active during teaching and learning process. Finally, through the result of this research, it was concluded that by implementing Learning Cell Method, the students writing skill could be improved. Then, the researcher suggestions that English teachers can use Learning Cell Method in teaching writing in the class.
