Abstract
Keyword : Suggestopedia Method, Speaking Skill, Teaching Speaking. The research question of this research was “To what extent the effectiveness of Suggestopedia Method Toward Students’ Speaking at the Eight Grade Students of SMP N 1 Siman Ponorogo?”. The purpose of the study was to know the effectiveness of Suggestopedia Method in Teaching Speaking at the Eight Grade Students of SMP N 1 Siman Ponorogo. The population of this research was the students at the eight grade of SMP N 1 Siman Ponorogo in the academic year of 2016/2017. In this research, the samples were the students of class VIII E and VIII F. Each of class had 22 students, so the total numbers of samples are 44 students. Based on the result of the research, the use of Suggestopedia method was effective in teaching speaking at the eight grade of SMP N 1 Siman. It could be seen in pre test, using result of independent sample Ttest by both of the same variance assumption to hypothesis Ho : μ_1=μ_2 toward Ha : μ_1≠μ_2 that given value t_calculate = 1,584 with free of degree n_x+ n_(y ) 2 = 22+222= 42 and Pvalue (2tailed) 0,121. Because Pvalue > α = 0.05, so Ho accepted and Ha was rejected. Thus could be concluded that in pre test was not different therefore it may for doing treatment. From result of post test, using result of independent sample Ttest by both of the same variance assumption to hypothesis Ho : μ_1=μ_2 toward Ha : μ_1≠μ_2 that given value t_calculate = 4,560 with free of degree n_x+ n_(y ) 2 = 22+222= 42 and Pvalue (2tailed) 0,000. Because Pvalue > α = 0.05, so Ho was rejected and Ha accepted. Therefore it could be concluded that there were a differences between post test in experiment class and post test in control class after done treatment. It means that the significant different between the score of the students’ speaking ability before and after being taught by using Suggestopedia method. Then, The result of questionnaire of students’ experiment class was 84,1% and the control class was 79,6%. It means that the positive response from students during learning process
