Abstract
Key words :Vocabulary Skill, Talking Stick, and Cartoon Movie Vocabulary is very important to be learned, because it is one of the elements of language that should be learned and taught. In teaching vocabulary skill, there are some problems occur. To solve the problems in teaching and learning process, we can use many creative techniques, method and media. Talking Stick method is suitable method to help the teacher in improving students’ vocabulary mastery. Cartoon Movie is appropriate media concerned with students’ characteristic and need. This media enables the students to explore idea when they are learning in an enjoyable atmosphere and it helps the students can memorize English vocabulary more easily. The purpose of this research is to know improvement English vocabulary skill using talking stick by cartoon movie at the eight grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis Ponorogo in the 2015/2016 Academic Year. The research design in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research was the eight grade especially class B that consist of 22 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. The researcher used three research instruments; there are observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, in cycle I the percentage of students success was 25%, the mean of all students’ score was 66 whereas in cycle II the percentage of students success was 100%, the mean of all students’score was 87.36. It was seen the improvement of the average score of the students’ test increased up to 75%.It means that the classroom action research has been successful. Finally, the Implementation of English Vocabulary Skill Using Talking Stick Method by Cartoon Movie could improve student’s vocabulary skill at the eight grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jetis Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015/2016 successfully. The suggestions, for teacher the creativity of the English teachers is needed in teaching English. For the students, they should practice to use English vocabulary anytime and anywhere. For the next researcher, also can develop this technique using various kinds of the media to get better
