Abstract

Ponorogo Regency has a variety of natural wealth, social, cultural and custom. There are many tourist sites that are not widely known by local and national communities. With the recognition of tourist attractions by the public then the impact of increased tourist visitors. Thus, the development of tourism will increase along with the number of tourists who are more and more. In this research, the researcher describes whether the promotion strategy is done, how the implementation of promotional strategy, analyzing what are the obstacles and steps taken in carrying out tourism promotion. In this research using qualitative descriptive research method with informant determination technique using purposive sampling while data collection technique used with triangulation method. The results showed that in the implementation of promotional strategies undertaken by the tourism agency ponorogo district is good enough but still there are deficiencies that must be improved. In implementing the promotion strategy of Tourism Department has several steps such as conducting inventory, exhibition, fun trip and also supported by the Government Institution, the private sector and also the Conscious Tourism Group. In doing tourism promotion using tools or media, electronic media, social media, and print media. In the development of existing tourism in the district ponorogo there are various kinds of kenadala or obstacles that is, human resources society around the object of tourism is still low, attractions that have not managed well, difficult road infrastructure and also allocation of funds for the development of less tourist attraction , thus making barriers in carrying out tourism promotion. In overcoming these obstacles the tourism office perform various ways that is by conducting guidance to the community involved in the development of tourism obek and do cooperation with institutions, government, private, and tourism awareness groups in developing tourism in Ponorogo regency. So it can be successful with the evidence of increasing tourist visits in the district ponorogo that originally in 2016 a number of 345,818 people. In 2017 increased to 352,171 people.
