Abstract

Keywords: Android Application, Writing. Writing is the primary basis upon which communication. We are encountered with writing every day of our lives. And writing is related with grammar. Grammar is one of the important parts in writing. And now, is technology era, students will be feel bored if the teacher teach students with book and monotonous. Because of that, android is one of the media for students to get new ways to achievement their writing skill with good structural of grammar. In android there are have some application, available for free and can be used for any device of android or smart phone, remember that usage of technologies are spread out in this era especially students of senior high school which have familiar to use the common technologies. This thesis discusses the use of android application in teaching English writing at SMA Muhipo. The objective of this research is to find out whether the students’ writing using android application has better than students who are not. This research employed quantitative research that applied quasi experimental design. The population was 104 taken from all students XI MIPA SMA Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The researcher using purposive sampling and choose XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 3 as the sample.There are 38 students. Divided into 19 students in control class and 19 students in experiment class. The technique of data collection of this present research was test (Pre-test and Post-test). The data were analyzed using SPSS 18 Windows. The mean score of post-test in experimental class was 80.79, while the control class was 75.26. Besides, the result showed the value of t table < t count (2.032 < 2.566) and P value (0.015 < 0.05). Based on the result, it can conclude that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on those explanations above, it can be said that there is significant difference students’ writing score thought android application. In other words, android application is effective for students writing achievement of SMA Muhipo in academic Year 2018/2019.
