Abstract
Key Word : Motivation, National examination The aim of this study were to find out the students motivation to preparing the National examination of English subject. Motivation is one of essential factor for students to face the National examination in English subject. Motivation is one of part that will give many benefit for students to get good result in National examination. Using qualitative method, The data was taken from field research in SMP Negeri 2 Ponorogo, particularly on nine grade and the nine grade teachers. The subject of this study were all of students in nine grade to fill the questioner, the 10 students 2 teachers to answer interview that chosen by using purposive sampling. The data collecting technique that used was questioner and interview technique. The data Analysis in this study was using Field Analysis of Miles and Huberman Model,the result was than presented descriptively. The result of the research showed that the result of students motivation to prepare the National examination of English subject in SMP Negeri 2 Ponorogo were intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation come from their self with study hard every day and be seriously to prepare the national examination,and extrinsic motivation came from their school with given additional hours, came from their parents that support their children to followed private lesson beyond school,and from friend that always studied together in every day. than intrinsic and extrinsic motivation supported by integrative and instrumental motivation In conclusion In fact the English subject in National examination was one of difficult lesson for students, The students motivation had double motivation were intrinsic and extrinsic motivation the intrinsic motivation was came from their self, and then the intrinsic motivation supported by extrinsic motivation came from school, English teacher, parents and their friends. The model of National examination in SMP Negeri 2 Ponorogo was used computer-based test, and The relationship of motivation and National examination was very strong because the motivation was one of most important factor to get a good score in National examination.
