Abstract

Keywords :Writing, Recount Text, Diary. Diary writing is often used to introduce writing activity for the beginner. Diary writing is simple and excited to guide students find their ideas. It is commonly used because this strategy will give unforgettable memories when they are writing something. The purpose of this thesis is to improve the students‟ ability in writing recount text through diary wiring at tenth grade of TKJ in SMKN 1 Badegan in academic year 2017/2018. The design of this research is uses CAR design in two cycles. It was done from September 12th until September 30th, 2017. The subject of this research were the students of Tenth Grade of TKJ in SMKN 1 Badegan. The data comes from students‟ interviews and observation of students‟ writing paper, which one that they are getting problems in finding idea, and also based on the result of the test in cycle I and II. The result of the research based on the test, in cycle I there were 14 students that had got the score >75, it just 39%, but in the cycle II all of them had got the score >75. It indicates that the percentage was 100%. The diary writing was success to improve their writing. The result of observation, from the cycle I was 78% and the result in cycle II was 86%, there was increase 8%. The result of questionnaire in cycle I was 76.4% and the result of questionnaire in cycle II was 87.9%, there was increasement 11.5%. Writing diary support their emotion to write detail depend on their experience. Eventhough they are lack in exploring ideas, they are still trying to improve their abilities by trying to reveal their memories writing diary. The suggestion for this research result were given an attractive learning in teaching writing by the teacher, the student should keep spirit in writing in order to get rich vocabularies, and the last taking the benefit of this research, wish the next researcher could create a new method in improving teaching writing.
