Abstract

Divorce cases in Ponorogo Regency are unique in that around 40 percent of the total divorce cases in Ponorogo Regency are experienced by female workers who work in Taiwan and Hong Kong. There have been quite a number of articles or studies that talk about Indonesian Workers (TKI), both related to the impact, the problems of migrant workers abroad, to the cooperation relations between countries related to the receipt of Indonesian migrant workers abroad. But the topic of the employment of migrant workers is still not discussed specifically in terms of handling or efforts made by the government. Therefore, in this article, the focus will be on discussion on government efforts in overcoming divorce for Indonesian migrant workers in Ponorogo Regency. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method with the determination of snowball sampling informants. The results of this study indicate an increase in divorce for Indonesian migrant workers from 2017 to 2018 by 200 percen, where the average migrant worker applying for divorce works in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The government has taken many anticipatory steps to tackle this divorce but it turns out that TKI divorces are indeed very complex because they are related to individual internal problems and are influenced by internal and external factors of TKI. The recommendation for the related Office is to tackle the problems of TKI by drafting regulations to at least re-examine divorce for Indonesian migrant workers in Ponorogo.
