Abstract

Key words: Improving, Speaking Skill, Brainstorming Method Speaking is one of important basic language skills used by students in English lesson. Method is a very important component in the learning process that must be developed creatively by teachers. Teacher usually teaches speaking monotonously. This process absolutely makes the students bored. In the development of learning, a teacher is free to modify it based on the students needs or classes condition.. To solve the problem of speaking skill, the writer tries to find the solution through Brainstoming method. This research discusses about the implementation of Brainstorming method effective to improve the students’ speaking skill at the sixth grade of SDN 1 Jarak in the 2012/2013 academic year. The purpose of study is to know the result of the implementation of Brainstorming in order to improve the students’ speaking skill especially in descriptive at the sixth grade of SDN 1 Jarak in the academic year 2012/2013. The research was done in SDN 1 Jarak started on 7th March 2012 until 19th March 2012. The subject in this research is class VI. The research was done in two cycles. The writer used three instruments. There are Observation, Questionnaire, and Test. The Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of the test is 65. Based on the result of the Test in cycle one was found that the student who got score above 65 were 8 students or 61,07%. But there are 6 of students got score under KKM. Therefore, after conducting cycle two, all of students got score ≥65. From the observation showed that students more active in the class. It showed from the result of observation that from 69, 37% to 85, 25%The result of questionnaire showed that the improving students’ speaking skill in SDN 1 Jarak in the academic year 2012/2013 in the ran effectively and successfully from 61,07% to 72,50%. Finally the researcher suggests for the English teacher to be creative and innovative and always be able to develop their thought to create enjoyable learning for the students. And for the next researcher, it is hoped to conduct the action research and present the better result.
