Abstract

Key word : Index Card Match (ICM), Card, Reading Skill. Reading is an important subject to be taught in the school. By Reading, student are demanded to get knowledge of other skill in teaching English (speaking ,listening ,writing) because reading is one of aspect to get information well. Teacher should apply the interesting method in order to improve students’ reading Skill. One appropriate method that can be applied is Index Card Match (ICM). This method helpful the student’s to improve Reading Skill in Descriptive Text, especially for students of Junior High School.The statement of the problem is “How is the Implementation of Index Card Match to Improve Reading Skill at the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Sawoo in the 2012/2013 academic years?” The researcher uses the eighth grade of SMPN 3 Sawoo, the research subject consist of 28 students. The research uses classroom action research at research designs which consists of two cycles. Every cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, reflecting. The researcher uses a questioner,observation and test. From the result of the data observation cheek list, the researcher makes the class interesting and the students always pay attention in teaching reading. The students can study English easily and they can understand the meaning of the text. By seeing the result of students test, the students score was increased. In cycle I student who can reach KKM just 10 students, but in cycle II all students can reach the KKM. It means that the implementation of Index Card Match (ICM) method is success. From the questioner, the researcher found that Index Card Match (ICM) method is appropriate to be applied in teaching Reading. Finally, the researcher suggests to the teacher to apply ICM method in teaching learning process as an alternative method. For further researcher they can develop this method to get a better result in teaching and learning process.
