Abstract

Thai student spends for a long time to learn the English language but still failed. The research aims to improve the student’s speaking skill and how English movie improve students' speaking skills at Jareeyahtam Islam foundation school grade 11 (matthayomsuksa 5) in academic year of 2019/2020. The research design of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were two kinds of the data collect in this research are qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data was the result of observation concerning the researcher planned and it was related to the students' score in speaking test. This study was conducted at Jareeyahtam Islam foundation school, the subject of this research was 11 grade (Matthayomsuksa 5) include of 14 students that consisted of 3 boys and 11 girls. There are only 11 students follow teaching and learning process by using English movies as media to improve student’s speaking skill. The result showed that teaching English by using English movie as a media can improve students’ speaking skill. It can be proved by data such as test Cycle I and Cycle II, observation checklist, and questionnaire. The result of cycle I 11 students or 100% were passed the test. All of the students already passed minimal standard of criteria but to know that strategy using English Movie continuously effective to improve students’ speaking ability or not. The researcher had continue the strategy to Cycle II. In Cycle II 11 students or 100% were passed the test and the students score better than cycle I. The result from observation checklist. During teaching and learning in Cycle I and Cycle II, students’ participation always monitored by observer. In the Cycle I the students reached the percentage criteria of 75% more than 70% and in the Cycle II the students reach the percentage criteria of 87.5% more than 70%. From the questionnaire most of students 82% answer yes that English can improve their speaking skill and agree if movie used to be a media in learning English subject. And only 7 % the students who not interested in learning English. However, the students’ behavior showed that the students more active in teaching learning process although some students were not cooperative with researcher’s material. The students were motivated to learn speaking class, they enjoyed and interested to follow teaching and learning.
