Abstract

Coffee is a kind of drink from the type of processing and extracting of seeds of the coffee tree. The word coffee itself comes from the Arabic qahwah means strength, because the coffee was originally used as a high-energy food. The problems may arise from coffee consumption during pregnancy. Caffeine in coffee can increase the fetal heart rate, reduce the absorption of iron, oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. This research aims to know the perception of pregnant mother about the effects of coffee consumption in pregnancy in Idoela Polindes Bedoho Village Sooko Subdstrict Ponorogo Regency. The design of this research is descriptive. The population of this study is all of pregnant mothers who comsume coffee in their pregnancy in Idoela Polindes Bedoho Village Sooko Subdstrict Ponorogo Regency. The sampling technique uses Total Sampling. The number of sample is 30 respondents. The data collection uses questionnaire containing mothers’ perception of the effect of coffee comsumption in their pregnancy. From the research result of 30 respondents shows that the majority of 17 respondents or 56,6% have negative perception and nearly half as many as 13 respondents or 43,33% have positive perception. It is expected for the next reseracher to conduct further research on the factors that influence the mothers’ perception about the effect of coffee comsumption for their pregnancy.
