Abstract
Key Words: Inside Outside Circle, Reading Skill Reading is one of the important skills in English and it gives many benefits for us. To master reading, students need to have reading desire and must be tried to read something intensively and continuously. In teaching reading we can use strategy to improve reading skill. The technique is using Inside Outside Circle. Teaching using Inside Outside Circle is strategy that make student can share they information with other in same time. The statement of problem of this research is how is the implementation of using Inside Outside Circle strategy How does the implementation of Inside Outside Circle ( IOC ) at the eighth grade students SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo in academic year of 2013/2014 and Can the Inside Outside Circle ( IOC ) improve the student’s reading skill at eighth grade at SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo in academic year of 2013/2014. The purpose of this research is to know the implementation of Inside Outside Circle ( IOC ) strategy in reading learning at the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo and To analyze the improvement of the students reading skill after given Inside Outside Circle (IOC) strategy at the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo. The subject of this research was the students of the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo in academic year 2013/2014 which consisted of 20 students. The researcher was started on September 4th 2013 until September 13th. This researcher was conducted in two cycles. The researcher used three research instruments. There are observation check list, questionnaire and test. Based on the result of this research , the implementation of Inside Outside Circle strategy can improve students’ reading skill in SMP Muhammadiyah II Ponorogo. It was seen from the improvement of average of students ‘ score from 68 in cycle 1 up to 80 in cycle 2. The questionnaire result showed that students enjoyed during teaching learning process. And the result of observation checklist showed that most students were very active and serious in doing their task. Finally, the researcher gives suggestion that English teachers can use Inside Outside Circle strategy as alternative strategy in teaching reading. The next researcher conducts the action research and presents the result better than this.
