Key Words: Reading, The Power of Two Method The researcher got some problems in the teaching reading skill at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo such as the teaching and learning process was still low. The learning reading process was just still translating and doing the task individually. This learning process made the students feel bored, and there were just a few of students who paid attention to the lesson, and the other students were just listening to what the teacher say. The statements of problems of this research were: 1) Can The Power of Two method improve students’ reading skill at eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo?; 2) How does the result of students’ reading skill improvement at eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo?. The purposes of the study of this research were: 1) To find out wheather The Power of Two method can improve students’ reading skill at eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo; 2) To describe how the result of students’ reading skill improvement at eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. The subject of this research was the students of eighth grade class VIII B of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo in academic year of 2013/2014, which consisted of 20 students. The research was started on September 17, 2013 until September 25, 2013. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles. The researcher used three research instruments. They were: observation check list, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of The Power Of Two method could improve students’ reading skill at the eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo in academic year of 2013/2014. It was seen from the improvement of students’ percentage from 40% in cycle I up to 100% in cycle II. The questionnaire result showed that the students were interested in this method. It was seen from the total of questionnaire I was 48.375% and questionnaire II was 73.25%. The observation check list result showed that the students become active during teaching learning process. It was seen from the total of observation checklist cycle I was 46.07% up to 70% in cycle II. Finally, the researcher gives suggestion that teacher should be creative in organizing the class. The students should practice to use English in daily activities. School also should support the teachers in developing their quality in teaching English. Last, the next researcher can develop this method by using various kinds of the media to get the better result in teaching learning process.
