Abstract

This research aim to: (1) describe students’ perception on E-learning use in fourth and sixth semester of English department. (2) describe the elements of E-learning are used by the lecturers in fourth and sixth semester of English department. (3) describe the impact that fourth and sixth semester of English department students got from the use of E-learning. This research is qualitative descriptive research with the subject are fourth and sixth semesters of English Department in Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Semesters four and six each consist of 16 students. So the total number of respondents was 32 students. The data collections were questionnaire, observation and interview to know students’ perception on E-learning use, E-learning element and the impact from students in E-learning use. The results of the study show that according to students' perception E-learning is effectively carried out in lectures because with E-learning students can access lecture material wherever and whenever. Besides, by use E-learning in lectures, the learning resources and learning activities of students are also diverse because E-learning is equipped with attractive features to support lecture activities. One of the E-learning platforms used by English study program lecturers at Muhammadiyah University in Ponorogo are Bebas UMPO (MOODLE), Google classroom, Edmodo, and Whatsapp. There are some commonly features from applications/platforms that used by lecturer: Features from Bebas UMPO that are Forums, Quizzes, SCORM packages, Resources, and Assignments; feature from Google classroom that is "Classwork”; feature from Edmodo that are "Chatting" and "Quiz” and feature from Whatsapp that is "Group chat”. The result of the study is by use E-learning students become more active in responding during lecture activities.
