Abstract
ONLINE MEDIA INDEPENDENCE ABOUT REJECTION DELAYING 2024 ELECTION AND THREE PERIOD OF PRESIDENT'S SERVICE ON KOMPAS.COM ONLINE MEDIA EDITION 11 APRIL 2022 (Study of Critical Discourse Analysis of the Teun A. Van Dijk Model) Maulidia Pratiwi 18240651 Students from the BEM SI alliance staged a protest on April 11, 2022. The demonstration was in response to the debate over postponing the 2024 presidential election and the three-year presidential term. Several media outlets, including Kompas.com, covered the incident. News is a medium that audiences enjoy, and it contains meaning that reflects the media's interests. An analysis is required to see these interests. The focus of this study is on the analysis of online media independence in the news surrounding the April 11 Demo: Refusal to Postpone the 2024 Election and the Third Period of Presidential Office. The purpose of this study was to create a framework for discourse analysis on news texts about the April 11 protest against the postponement of the 2024 election and the three-term presidential term, as well as to establish the impartiality of the online media Kompas.com regarding said protest. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature, with the goal of providing a factual description of the object or subject under consideration. The data was then examined using the critical discourse analysis of the Teun A. Van Dijk model, which includes macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The seven news articles on Kompas.com that were relevant to the protest on April 11 against the delay of the 2024 elections and the three-term presidential term met the criteria for the Teun A. Van Dijk model of critical discourse analysis, according to the study's findings. Kompas.com, rather than being impartial, frequently supports the government and other interest groups. This is demonstrated by the tendency of the news to focus more on the government and police after they have been studied.
