Abstract

Plastic waste is waste from humans which we can use as a very useful mixture. By adding other mixed materials such as glass powder with polymer. The method used in this study is the main injection machine with the process of weighing each composition of the material mixture according to the predetermined mixing table. Then the plastic is cut into small pieces as needed then melted and mixed with glass powder with an injection machine. Plastic and glass powder are mixed together with the polymer until combined. The mixture is melted with an injection machine until it reaches a temperature of 280 C in 10-15 minutes. Then after melting the mixture is directly injected and pressed into the mold. After that, let it sit for a few minutes to solidify. Furthermore, the new specimen can be opened from the mould. The percentage of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) plastic mixture is 45%, 50%, 60%, and 65%. The tests carried out were tensile tests with reference to the ASTM D-638 Type II standard, and microstructure tests. The results of this study indicate the percentage tensile strength of a mixture of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) with a stress value of 6.35 N/mm2. With a composition of 65% HDPE, 25% glass powder and 10% polymer. The mixture with the lowest stress value is 45% HDPE, 45% glass powder and 10% polymer. with a voltage of 3.65 N/mm2. The microstructure test on specimen mixture 4, namely HDPE 65%, showed that HDPE plastic dominated most of the specimens, therefore this fourth mixed specimen was the best specimen and had the greatest tensile strength than the previous specimen.
