Abstract
Personal hygiene independence is an action in maintaining personal hygiene both physically and psychologically. One of the factors that can affect the independence of personal hygiene in school-age children is parenting. The application of proper parenting is expected to be able to form a good and independent child's personality. Parenting patterns for children in teaching personal hygiene properly serve to train and control so that children can maintain personal hygiene independently and do not depend on others, especially parents. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and the level of personal hygiene independence in school-aged children in grades 1-3 at SDIT Ulil Albab, Krajan Village, Parang District, Magetan Regency. This study uses a quantitative research design with a correlation design that examines and finds out the relationship between variables using a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study were 96 respondents using proportional random sampling technique. The research instrument used a Likert questionnaire on parenting patterns and the level of independence of personal hygiene. Data were collected using Chi-Square test analysis with P value < 0.05. Based on the results of the analysis in this study is p value (0.000) < (0.05) then H0 is rejected which means there is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and the level of personal hygiene independence in school-aged children in grades 1-3 at SDIT Ulil Albab Krajan Village, Parang District, Magetan Regency. The results of this study are expected for parents to apply parenting that tends to democratic parenting as an effort to support the process of good child development.
