Ardini, Yenni Marta. 2022. The Challenges, Tricks, And Benefits Of Working Students; Case In University Around Madiun City. Thesis. English Department, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Advisors:(1) Dr. Ana Maghfiroh, M.Pd.B.I, (2) Diyah Atiek Mustikawati, M.Hum. Keywords : The challenges, The tricks, The benefits, Working student This research aims to describe the challenges of working students face during their study, the strategies to successfully balance out their works and studies and the benefits of working students on the career. This research was qualitative descriptive research with the subject was working student around Madiun City that focused on whose who work with paid jobs salaries, not voluntarily works or unpaid internships. Data collection techniques in this research were questionnaire, interview, and document. The questionnaire involved university students that resident around Madiun, both with and without jobs. Then the interviewees were participants being working students. Document were students’ report progress as the main source of the document analysis process. The result showed the challenges that working students status faced included financial issues, time management, stress management, and some of them mentioned having academic performance issues as a result of having demanding jobs. The benefits, including a better future career, enriching their portfolios and curriculum vitae, becoming mentally more mature and wiser, broadening networking and connections, and becoming more responsible in time and finances. Scheduling takes up a big role in the successfulness of both being a student and worker Students need to be discipline and commit to the schedule. Additionally, communication was very important. Students must let the place of work know that they are currently also students. By doing this, the company may give students a relief should you have to finish your university tasks and projects.
