NURSING CARE IN DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS WITH
NURSING PROBLEMS SKIN INTEGRITY DISORDERS
In the Mawar Room, Dr.Harjono Hospital Ponorogo

Diabetes mellitus is a disease of metabolic disorders, caebohydrates, fats and proteins associated with deficiency or chronic insulin resistance, characterized by an increase in blood glucose or hyperglycemia above normal values. This case study aims to provide nursing care to Diabetes Mellitus patients with nursing problems with skin integrity disorders.
Nursing care for Diabetes Mellitus patients is carried out in the Mawar Room, RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo for 3 days in July 2022. The method used is a nursing process approach.
The results of the study found that the patient had damaged skin integrity on the back of the left foot due to uncontrolled blood sugar levels and high levels of leukocytes in the blood, namely 22.06 10ˆ3/µL. Nursing actions taken to overcome nursing problems are performing wound care, and providing health education about diabetic foot care.
After 3 days of nursing actions, the results of skin integrity increased. The results of the evaluation showed impaired skin integrity associated with peripheral neuropathy resolved. Nursing care for Diabetes Mellitus patients with nursing problems with skin integrity disorders is expected to be an illustration for nurses, especially in handling patients who have damaged skin integrity with wound care and education on how to care for diabetic foot.
