Abstract

The increasing use of plastic in daily needs is one of the causes of environmental problems that should be minimized. Plastic which is not widely used can cause big problems for the surrounding environment. Therefore, plastic waste can be used as a composite material, for example, PET plastic (polypropylene Terephtalate), LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) and there are natural fibers, namely pineapple leaf fiber. In this study the authors used these 3 materials with a percentage of PET plastic rage 45 grams – 55 grams, LDPE 25 grams – 35 grams and 20 grams pineapple leaf fiber, from these percentage the highest tensile test value was 442,03 N and the highest stress was 11,333 N/mm2 on the composition of 55 grams PET, 25 grams LDPE and 20 grams pineapple leaf fiber. After carrying out the tensile test, microstructure of the material it is good, however there are some cavities and climping of pineapple leaf fiber in the specimen.
