EFEKTIVITAS PEMBERIAN MINYAK OLES JAHE MERAH “ZINGIBER OFFICINALE VARIETAS RUBRUM” TERHADAP PERUBAHAN NYERI OTOT SENDI PADA ATLET OLAHRAGA ATLETIK DI PASI (PERSATUAN ATLETIK SELURUH INDONESIA) KOTA MADIUN

Joint muscle pain in athletic athletes often results in damage to microscopic muscle tissue and cell membranes which then causes an inflammatory response.Repetitive movements are one of the causes of joint muscle pain. One solution to relieve pain is to use red ginger extract, because it combines gingerol and oleoresin which contain antioxidants and can relieve pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of ginger oil on changes in joint muscle pain in athletic athletes.
This study used a quasy experimental method, with a one group pretest-posttest research design without control. The population of sufferers of joint pain and muscle pain in PASI Madiun City is 35 people with a sample size of 20 respondents. The sampling technique in this study was a purposive sampling technique. Data collection used an observation sheet for assessing pain scales and analysis using the Wilcoxon test.
The results of the posttest study 20 respondents had an average pain scale of 70% mild pain and 30% moderate pain with the highest pain scale 6 and the smallest pain scale 1. The statistical test results obtained a p value of 0.000 because (p <0.05) so there is an influence giving red ginger topical oil to changes in the scale of joint muscle pain in athletic athletes at PASI (All-Indonesian Athletics Association) Madiun City.
Ginger has a pharmacological effect that can be felt, namely a spicy and hot taste, where the hot taste can relieve pain, stiffness, and muscle spasm or cause vasodilation in blood vessels. So that one of the alternatives to reduce pain in athletes is one of them by applying red ginger oil.
