Abstract
Absence is a crucial performance appraisal. Absenteeism by teachers and students can affect their job performance. Muhammadiyah 3 Dolopo Madiun Vocational School is a private vocational high school located in Madiun Regency, East Java. SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Dolopo Madiun Before starting all the tasks that will be carried out by teachers and students, they have implemented an attendance system. If attendance is done manually, it is time-consuming, costly, and causes errors in teacher and student data recap. However, with the development of smartphone technology that is increasingly developing, which is widespread and reliable, android-based attendance applications can help schools carry out attendance. The purpose of this research is to make a location map so that educators can take attendance using GPS technology on Android. By using the Haversine Formula method, this study also discusses leave and sick leave as reasons for not attending school. Rapid Application Development (RAD) is a development technique used to create Android-based attendance applications. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used to design the system, and Android is used as the system coding. The results show that android-based attendance helps teachers and students improve and replicate data and reduce the use of paper and other materials.
