The level of knowledge plays an important role in maintaining patient IDWG, the level of family knowledge is related to the role of the family in maintaining IDWG in family members who suffer from CRF. This results in an increase in the patient's weight beyond normal weight which can cause complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the role of the family in maintaining the IDWG of hemodialysis patients.
This study uses a correlation design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 66 families of patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Dr. Hardjono Ponorogo. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Measuring tool in this study using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Chi Square statistical test.
The chi square results obtained a p-value of 0.006 where this value is smaller than α = 0.05, so it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the role of the family in maintaining the IDWG of hemodialysis patients at RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo.
Nurses and families are expected to play a good role in maintaining the IDWG of hemodialysis patients by maintaining nutritional and fluid intake for patients undergoing hemodialysis.
