Abstract
Cultural and civic literacy is the ability of individuals and communities to behave towards their social environment as part of a culture and nation. Cultural literacy and citizenship in the 21st century is very important to be mastered by students today. This study aims to (1) Know the objectives of implementing cultural literacy and citizenship at MAN 2 Ponorogo. (2) Knowing the strategy for implementing cultural literacy and citizenship at MAN 2 Ponorogo. This study uses a qualitative method with a type of case study approach. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews and documentation. The instruments used in this study were interview instrument sheets aimed at curriculum deputy heads, student assistants, civics teachers and library teachers. The data analysis technique used is the interaction model offered by Miles and Huberman with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study show that 1) The target of cultural literacy and citizenship at MAN 2 Ponorogo can be achieved through 3 goals, including (1) In the classroom environment it is realized through the learning process, (2) In the school cultural environment it can be realized by implementing several attitudes of tolerance in respecting differences in schools and also cultural preservation in various activities within the school environment as a form of understanding that culture is a national identity. (3) In addition, in the community environment it leads to involving parents in activities by communicating between the school and parents. 2) The strategy of cultural literacy and citizenship at MAN 2 Ponorogo can be implemented by (1) Preserving culture with various extracurricular activities. (2) Utilization of the library at school (3) There is a habit of literacy before going home from school and also in Islamic culture such as the application of 5S (Smile, Greet, Greeting, Polite and Polite). (4) Commemorating the national day. Activities commemorating national and Islamic holidays are examples of cultural literacy activities. (5) Citizenship literacy in Civics learning and there are several extracurricular activities such as the introduction of resilience materials, scouting, and also through habituation activities, namely the flag ceremony.
