Abstract

Abstract
The design of an onion cutting tool with a 12 volt DC motor using 12 volt
accumulator energy with the aim of easing the burden on people in cutting onions
who previously still used manual methods. The energy used is in the form of a 12
volt battery (accumulator) that has been charged and is ready for use. By using
energy from a 12 volt battery, it is hoped that the electricity used will be more
efficient. The driving motor uses a type 775 dc motor so it requires low and
economical power consumption. The power from the type 775 dc motor is
transmitted using a type A 53 pulley and v-belt transmission which can rotate the
blade disc and is ready for use and also uses a dc motor speed controller which
functions to regulate the output of current from the 12 volt battery which will be
transmitted to the type dc motor 775 so that the desired rotation of 308 rpm can be
achieved. In the test, we used shallots that had been peeled and then washed
thoroughly to keep them hygienic. Testing with the rpm of a 12 volt dc motor type
775 of 1100 rpm, after going through the pulley and v-belt the resulting rotation
on the disc shaft is 308 rpm. Testing within 15 seconds produces 146 grams of
onion slices, and testing within 1 minute produces 1 kg slices requiring 86.30
watts of power. However, basically the tool designed is capable of approaching
the desired capacity at the beginning of design.
