Schizophrenia is one of the clinical syndromes or a disease process that affects behavior, emotional perception, social functioning, and cognition. Patients with impaired social function tend to like to be alone, do not want to associate with others, so they are unable to socialize. One intervention of the problem is non-pharmacological therapy, namely Group Activity Therapy. Group Activity Therapy aims to teach and train patients to adapt to others.
The research design used in this study was with one group Pre Post Experimental. The population in this study was 210 patients schizophrenia with a sample of 20 people taken by purposive sampling method. The data collection process used the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) questionnaire with Wilcoxon α analysis (0.05).
The results of the study of 20 respondents found that there was a decrease in PANSS scores with the highest score before TAK was 67 and the lowest was 31 with an average score of 42.20, while the highest score after TAK was 56 and the lowest was 22 with an average score of 34.10. The difference in average score before and after TAK was 8,1.
Based on statistical tests using Wilcoxon in the table above, a significant p-value of 0.000 is obtained. These results show that group activity therapy can reduce positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia at the Puskesmas Auxiliary Paringan.
