Online gambling is an act of gambling that is carried out using technological media as an intermediary. Online gambling is rife in Indonesia. Various factors motivate someone to do online gambling. One of them is the economic factor. Online gambling actors think that by gambling they can be free from poverty or an unorganized economy. In fact, gambling actually plunged them into even more severe misery.
​The rise of online gambling in Indonesia is also due to the easy access to the internet to gather information. Media that should be used to find positive information, has now become a boomerang for irresponsible users. In preventing the rise of cybercrime cases, online gambling crimes are no exception. The government has formed a special law that contains rules and prohibitions on online gambling, namely the ITE Law. This Electronic Information and Transaction Law is used to regulate and limit social media activities. Regarding online gambling crimes, it is regulated in Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.
​However, to eradicate a crime, it is not enough just to have regulations. Regulations will not work properly if they are not accompanied by law enforcement. There must be law enforcement to make the law run smoothly. However, the act of enforcing the law will definitely experience obstacles so as to hinder the enforcement process.
