Abstract

This research aims to find out how the documentary film Gumbeng portrays the art of Gong
Gumbeng. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. The results
of this study found that there are 4 stages in the process of making a Gumbeng documentary
film, namely research, pre-production, production, and post-production. Then the
dramatization ladder uses a three-act structure, namely the introduction, middle and final
acts. In the introductory act, the storytelling focuses on the history and entry of Gong Gumbeng art into Wringinanom village. In the middle act, the story focuses on the village
cleansing ritual with the art of Gong Gumbeng and the problem of the existence of the art of
Gong Gumbeng which is increasingly disappearing. In the final act, the story focuses on the
speaker's hopes for the art of Gong Gumbeng.
